We’ve all heard the phrase, “Talk is cheap”, and throughout my career, I’ve come across many athletes, some who talk the talk and some who walk the walk. This helped shape my leadership style and how I conducted myself as a competitor. My coach always said, “Actions speak louder than words,” and I couldn’t agree more. To me, leadership is about setting the right example and creating a culture of excellence. There is undoubtedly a time to be vocal, but trust me, when you lead by example, people take notice. You earn your teammates respect so then when it comes time to say something, everyone listens.
