TrueSport Advocate and Olympic medalist in the steeplechase Emma Coburn knows that athletes don’t become great leaders on their own. Instead, they get help from many different types of people including their coaches, teammates, and even their competitors.

If you’re working hard, you’ll go really far. But you also have to have the integrity to do it right, and the kindness to be kind to your competitors, your coaches, your teammates, your family, your friends, the people who are helping build you up. And respect for those people as well. You have to respect your competitors. You have to respect the people who are trying to help you be better. You have to respect the people who are pushing you in a race to do better. So, I think those four things really add up to make a good leader and a good athlete and a good champion.
