Hilinski’s Hope Foundation (H3H) is a non-profit organization formed to promote awareness, educate, advocate, and eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness, while creating and funding programs that provide student-athletes with the tools and resources that support their mental health and wellness.
H3H was founded in 2018 by Mark and Kym Hilinski to honor the life of their son Tyler. Tyler was a D1 quarterback at Washington State University and never showed signs of a mental health struggle, nor did he reach out for support. The Hilinski family realized that if Tyler was afraid or unsure how to reach out for support, there must be so many other “Tyler’s” out there suffering in silence.
H3H helps colleges and universities save lives, eliminate stigma, and scale mental wellness programs for student-athletes. H3H does this by sharing Tyler’s story, through their “Tyler Talk, which they’ve given over 400 times across the country; connecting students with mental health resources, and assisting universities to institutionalize best practices. H3H envisions a world where mental health is supported in parity with physical health and equally prioritized by universities as connected to athletic performance.
The Hilinski Family were awarded the 2020 Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award, their E:60 film “Hilinski’s Hope” won a sports Emmy, in 2020 ESPN named H3H one of the 11 biggest powerbrokers in college football, and their journey has been covered by Sports Illustrated.
